Logo
Below is the logo I created for my personal brand. It is a simple butterfly with different color variations. I chose to do a butterfly because it best encompasses who I am. I am a very reserved person, but I am very unique. Similarly, a butterfly is reserved but unique in its many colors. I like butterflies because they do not move in a "loud" way. They move quietly but take up a lot of space visually and emotionally. Everyone wants to see a butterfly. A butterfly is not loud like a lion with its jarring roar but approaches its life with a calm-like aura. I aspire to be like a butterfly in that sense.
I created this logo in Adobe Illustrator. I started off by looking at similar logos for inspiration (as seen below). I then sketched out what I wanted to produce. For the sketch, I kept it very loose and free to mimic the energy of a butterfly. I then turned my sketch into a digital, black-and-white copy.
From there I added different colors to the logo. In the first version on the left, I used forest green and carolina blue as well as adding a stroke to the layer underneath. I have always liked these color combinations and I feel like they relate to the emotional meaning behind my logo due to their quiet but strong nature. In the middle version, I used a variation of green and peach fuzz as my colors. I used green again for its strong presence and peach fuzz as the stroke because it is the color of the year for 2024. For the next logo on the right, I used medium slate blue and peach fuzz. I filled the middle body of the butterfly but only left the stroke for the wings. I added the medium slate blue because it also had a strong presence and contrasted with the peach fuzz nicely.
