 #1 Blog Post: Class Feelings & Who I Am

    Hello! My name is Carter Kleinpeter and I am from Savannah, Georgia. I am a freshman at the University of Tampa. I am majoring in New Media and minoring in Entrepreneurship. I started my own editing business online in 8th grade (2018) and continue doing freelance editing, videography, and photography work. My business is called "CK Editz", which comes from the first letters of my first and last name. My editing work is a big part of who I am because I have a strong passion for it and have a natural eye for seeing the world through a digital lens. This is one of the reasons I am so excited to take digital media with Professor Roundtree. Another thing that makes me who I am and influences my work is my faith in Christ. I like to use the gifts He has given me in my work and express how unique He has made the world. I also find it so cool that He created different cultures. One of my aspirations is the get involved in international business. This has inclined me to learn several new languages including Japanese and Korean. I really want to explore and get inspired by different peoples' points of view.


    I am very hopeful and excited about Digital Media class. I have taken several Digital Media classes before in high school, but hope to acquire even more skills in Professor Roundtree's class. I have a lot of experience working in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, & Indesign. I utilize these programs for my freelance work and also used them while I was on the yearbook staff in high school. One thing that I hope to learn from this class is how to give clients a price for many different types of digital work, including photography, videos, and graphic design. I often have a hard time coming up with what price to give clients for the work I do for them. I am very exited for the new friends and memories I will make in the class. 


    In my free time I like to explore both American and international films and TV shows. My favorite films are Titanic, Good Will Hunting, & Spirited Away. Some of my favorite shows are The Glory, Stranger Things, and My Name. I often pull some inspiration from these films and shows when editing. I also like to go on photoshoots with friends in my free time. This gives me a chance to improve my photography skills and bond with friends. I also have several campus jobs and am apart of several on-campus clubs. I create content for the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center and I am also a content creator/chaperone for the international students at the ELS Center. Some of the clubs I am in include the Entreurpship Club, CRU, Photography Club. My favorite genres of music are R&B, Lofi Hip-Hop, K-Pop, J-Pop, & Latin. I am also a leader on the worship singing team at my church's young adults group. I have many hobbies and am always looking to acquire new ones!

The college edit on the right was of a famous YouTuber named Prettyboyfredo. The video on the left was a video that my highschool asked me to do for the football team. Photoshop Animation Research

Video #1:     This video went over very simply for the animation in Photoshop. I really like how the video was short and to the point. It did not drag out unnecessary elements to animating. I think navigating the new animating window will be a little tricky initially, but eventually, I will get the hang of it. When I first used Photoshop, I thought the tools were tough to learn, but now I easily navigate the application. Video #2:     The person in this video went over how to keyframe an animation. I liked how a simple animation was used as an example. I think I will understand how to keyframe quickly, but I am worried that I will not understand how to manipulate a drawing as easily.   Animation     Inspiration and encouragement are something everyone desires. With that in mind, I chose to create an encouraging animation. The GIF below starts off by showcasing clouds passing through the sky. The camera is then shifted upward to show stars passing. A UFO then swoops in on the screen only to quickly go back off the screen. I wanted the viewers to feel like they were up in the sky. The words "ou got this" then appear on the screen and then the letter "y" slides in front of the "ou". I originally had the text stating "ou got this" hoping the viewers would read it phonetically. If you say it phonetically it sounds like "We got this". This expresses the notion that no one is living this life alone. We can all lean on each other for help. Soon after, the words slide off the screen to reveal my tag brush and end credits. I hope this animation inspires others not only in everyday life but also in animation.

Photoshop Homework 1

 Photoshop Homework 1 Video 1: Pen Tool     The first video goes over the pen tool in Adobe Photoshop. I have experience using the pen tool in Photoshop and Illustrator, so I do not think it will be a challenge for me. This tool is very useful because it allows us to modify shapes into a desired shape. I really liked how the video is short, which allows the creator to explain the topics simply. The pen tool is very useful and important and I am glad I am learning more about it. Video 2: Brush Tool     Video 2 explains how to use the brush tool. I personally have used the brush tool quite a lot in my previous work. It has helped me add more personality and detail to my pieces. The brush tool has come pretty easy for me when working in Photoshop. I think that the brush tool makes adding details to your work simpler.
